Dear Friend,

As your days grow shorter in North America, and fall begins in earnest, we are approaching the end of the winter here in Patagonia. Our fishing season begins in November and is just one month away. We have had a good winter with average snows and plenty of water for the lakes and rivers of northern Patagonia.
We have a just completed some new video on the lodge, which you can view on YouTube.

It'll bring back memories for those of you who have visited, and whet the appetite of those who haven't yet!

This is our fifth season in operation and we are constantly striving to make your experience at Rio Manso lodge a special and unique one. Every year we explore the surrounding waters of Nahuel Huapi National Park in search of new fishing experiences. In the last year we have added several new pieces of water to the variety we already possess, giving us even more great fishing. Let us tell you about a couple.

Beat 6 is a new hike-in stretch of water below the lodge that offers beautiful scenery, deep pools and wild browns and rainbows. It's reached by a moderate hike through the forest and can provide glimpses of wildlife. You might see the large Magellanic woodpecker or even a puma.

Lago Roca is a nearby lake that offers sight casting to large cruising fish with a number of flats scattered throughout. Over three miles in length, it is just minutes from the lodge with the western edge only 1 ½ miles from the Chilean border and the continental divide. If you visit in December or January, you'll witness our famous dragonfly hatch that brings every large fish in the lake to the surface. Also new for this year are excursions to Lago Los Cesares, a beautiful lake reached by horseback or on foot filled with large browns and brook trout.

Remember there are lots of other things to do if your spouse or companion doesn't fish: hiking, birding, horseback riding, trips to the glacier - even golf are all within a short distance. Bariloche is just a 90 minute drive from the lodge and is known for its shops and famous chocolate.
